Essential Duties:

The Physical Education Teacher at the elementary school (K-5) level is responsible for planning and implementing physical education activities, monitoring students, and evaluating student outcomes.  Physical Education in the Elementary School generally emphasizes sports-related skills, movement patterns, games, and fitness activities.  The Physical Education Teacher records and maintains student information.  He or she is responsible for communicating with all parties involved in the education of the student. 

Responsibilities:

· Assess children’s skills and learning requirements

· Demonstrate skills being taught; assist students in performing skills.

· Adapt learning materials to meet students’ needs

· Collaborate with Special Education and related service teachers in implementing

   Individualized Educational Plans (IEP’s)

· Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.

· Collaborate with parents and school staff to track students’ progress

· Participate in school-wide behavioral programs, document student behavior and make necessary referral.

· Keep track of and reflect on students’ progress  

· Monitor children’s behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions as needed

· Manage classroom crises and resolve conflict

· Prepare and implement lessons plans, providing for appropriate learning experiences for each student.

· Assess fitness levels; perform fitness testing.

· May team teach with another Physical Education Teacher

· Assist the administration in implementing all District policies and/or building regulations and procedures governing student life and conduct

· Attend scheduled meetings; serve on District and building committees

· Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, by District policy, regulations and building procedures

· Provide for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars and conferences· Grade papers and homework regularly to keep students updated on how they are doing and to head off any problems before they become habit; feedback is essential

· Perform other duties as required by Building Principal and /or District Administrator

ACCOUNTABILITY:  Building Principal

 

NATURE OF POSITION:

            The classroom teacher is expected to provide students with age-appropriate instruction designed to promote the full development of students, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.  Major responsibilities include:  classroom management, curriculum development based on specific objectives, long and short-term lesson plan preparation, knowledge of subject material, student evaluation, development and maintenance of parent/teacher and student/teacher relationships, participation in professional development activities and contribution to building and district-wide educational programs and goals.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students in accordance with District and/or building goals and objectives.
  2. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  3. Develops a positive classroom learning environment that is student-centered, conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity, ability and interest of students.
  4. Manages student behavior through the use of educationally sound methods and management systems designed to develop behavior which demonstrates respect for self and others.
  5. Communicates the established objectives and expectations to students and maintains high expectations for student outcomes which are consistent with the District’s goals of mastery.
  6. Assesses the individual accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as established by District policy, regulations and building procedures.
  7. Confers with colleagues, students and/or parents as appropriate.
  8. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning, instructional goals, objectives and approaches.
  9. Assists the administration in implementing all District policies and/or building regulations and procedures governing student life and conduct.
  10. Attends scheduled meetings; serves on District and building committees.
  11. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, by District policy, regulations and building procedures.
  12. Communicates with parents and appropriate building staff on pupil progress and maintains accurate and complete records.
  13. Assists in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials in cooperation with other staff and parents as outlined in established adoption procedures.
  14. Accepts responsibilities for educational activities assigned.
  15. Utilizes and cooperates with resource personnel as appropriate in meeting stated objectives.
  16. Attends departmental and staff meetings as requested.
  17. Meets and instructs assigned classes and extra classroom assignments and responsibilities as designated.

Essential Duties:

Albion Central School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in the field of science. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Science, excellent classroom management skills, and the ability to develop engaging lesson plans that foster critical thinking and scientific inquiry. This position involves teaching various levels of Science, including general Science, Regents-level courses, and potential advanced or elective offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous Science lessons aligned with state standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Middle School Counselor is responsible for developing, implementing and managing a comprehensive school counseling program to serve the academic, social and career development needs of students enrolled in the Albion Central School District.  Perform other duties as required by Building Principal and/or District Administrator.

Development and Management

  • Uses data to develop and inform the school counseling program and evaluates the program’s impact on the school’s instructional goals
  • Uses the majority of the time (80%) to provide direct services to students through preventive and responsive services, individual student planning, and uses the remaining time in development and management, system support and accountability

Preventative and Responsive Services

  • Designs, implements and assesses the comprehensive counseling plan
  • Utilizes responsive counseling, initiating individual and group sessions for students’ academic, social and personal concerns
  • Consults with families and staff to appraise student needs and interests and to discuss appropriate recommendations for educational interventions
  • Assesses student needs and makes referrals to appropriate school resource personnel, social agencies, community agencies and alternative programs
  • Intervenes during crisis situations and participates on school crisis team

Individual Student Planning

  • Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational and career planning. Participates in school management teams in order to advocate for students’ needs and provide guidance for school staff

System Support

  • Uses responsive counseling strategies to establish relationships and collaborate with educators, students, families, and community partners which reflect recognition of and respect for each individual  
  • Promotes an understanding and appreciation of diverse population and cultures.
  • Assists families in obtaining services for their children through an appropriate referral and follow-up process
  • Assists teachers in understanding their students, including providing and interpreting student data
  • Provides in-service training on topics related to the school counseling program and supporting student achievement
  • Collaborate with building administration each year to develop a comprehensive schedule suited to students’ needs as a whole and individual

Accountability

  • Prepares and submits a variety of requested reports and data, to ensure fulfillment of established program requirements
  • Uses all available data including academic grades, discipline referrals and attendance data, to identify students in need and to deliver recommended services

Provide psychological services to schools, including psychoeducational evaluation, counseling, and consulting to assist in meeting the social, emotional, and educational needs of students in regular and special education programs being serviced by the Albion Central School District.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED

CERTIFIED AND NON-CERTIFIED FOR PRE-K - GRADE 12

The Superintendent employs appropriately qualified substitute teachers. A substitute teacher is employed in the place of a regularly appointed teacher who is absent, but is expected to return.

The Board will annually establish the rate for per diem substitute teachers.

         New York State recognizes the following three categories of substitute teachers:

         a) Substitutes with valid NYS teaching certificates or certificates of qualification. A substitute teacher in this category may be employed in any capacity, for any number of days, in any number of school districts. However, if employed for more than 40 days by a school district in any given school year, the substitute teacher must be employed in the area for which they are certified.

         b) Substitutes without a valid NYS certificate, but who are completing collegiate study toward NYS certification at the rate of not less than six semester hours per year. A substitute teacher in this category may be employed in any capacity, for any number of days, in any number of school districts. However, if employed for more than 40 days by a school district in any given school year, the substitute teacher must be employed in the area for which they are seeking certification.

         c) Substitutes without a NYS valid certificate and who are not working towards NYS certification. A substitute teacher in this category may be employed in any capacity, but is limited to 40 days in one school district in any school year.

 

1 full day = more than four hours

1/2 day = up to and including four hours

Certified Instructors - $125 per day

Non-Certified Instructors - $105 per day

If you apply to be a substitute teacher, fingerprinting will be necessary at a cost of $102 and will be paid for by the substitute teacher applicant. (Please note the cost is the State Education Department processing fee.)
