Minimum Qualifications:

·  Valid New York State certificate in Special Education

·  BS in an Education Field; MS is a plus

 

Essential Duties:

Educator will be responsible for teaching groups of students with a range of disabilities. You will develop, monitor and adjust instruction to promote the growth of our students which includes their intellectual emotional, social and physical well-being.

Responsibilities:

· Assess childrens’ skills and learning requirements

· Assess students’ abilities and craft teaching plans

· Adapt learning materials to meet students’ needs

· Design Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs)

· Communicate the established objectives and expectations to students, parents and classroom teachers regarding IEP goals and curriculum standards

·  Collaborate with parents and school staff to track students’ progress

· Inform parents about their children’s performance and potential problems

· Keep track of and reflect on students’ progress  

· Monitor children’s behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions as needed

· Manage classroom crises and resolve conflict

· Prepare students for transition to the next grade

· Coach/mentor other professionals who work with children with disabilities

· Collaborate with the support staff (e.g. school counselors and speech therapists) to create holistic intervention plans· · · · Assist the administration in implementing all District policies and/or building regulations and procedures governing student life and conduct

· Attend scheduled meetings; serve on District and building committees

· Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, by District policy, regulations and building procedures

· Provide for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars and conferences· Perform other duties as required by Building Principal and /or District Administration

Requirements:

Essential Duties:

Educator will demonstrate extensive knowledge of childhood development and language acquisition, content area literacy, differentiation strategies in both integrated and self-contained settings and an ability to plan collaboratively with other teachers. Experience with culturally responsive practices is essential. You will develop, monitor and adjust instruction to promote the growth of our students, which includes their intellectual, emotional, social and physical well-being.

Terms of Employment:   Ten-month year; follows the ATA contract; Salary will be paid at the $130 daily rate for certified substitute teachers. After 30 consecutive days of employment as a certified long-term substitute teacher, the substitute will be placed on Step 1 of the ATA Contract.

REPORTS TOAthletic Director

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Is familiar with the athletic policies of the Albion Central School District, N-O League, Section VI and N.Y.S.P.H.A.A.
  2. Attends coaches' meetings, clinics, in-service programs.
  1. Is available to counsel all participants in decision-making relative to college choice, vocation or daily problems.
  2. Cooperates with Athletic Director, all other coaches/sponsors to upgrade total athletic program.
  3. Cooperates with teaching staff, parents, members of the news media and other citizens to insure good public relations.
  1. Oversees the safety of the area in which the activities are conducted at  times when athletes are present.
  1. Promotes respect by example through appearance, manners, behavior, language and conduct during practices and contests.
  1. Is prompt and consistent in meeting team for practices and contests.
  1. Head Coach: Instructs Assistants, J.V. and Jr. High coaches in technique, offensive and defensive systems.
  1. J.V. Coach: Increases use of strategy, balances participation and winning.
  1. Jr. High Coaches: Effective in teaching fundamentals and  maximizes participation.

PRE-SEASON

  1. Holds a pre-season meeting with students and also informs parents (through meetings or letters) of the philosophy of the program and of rules and regulations (schedules, practice times, attendance, criteria for earning a varsity letter or certificate, etc.).
  1. Secures medical clearance of squad candidates according to policies of  ACS and N.Y.S.P.H.A.A. and S.E.D.
  1. Submits a list of candidates (tryout form) one week before the beginning date of the sports season to the Athletic Director for purpose of determining whether a student is eligible to compete in program.
  1. Is responsible for the ACS athletic participation-parental consent forms to be accurately completed prior to submitting them to the nurse.

IN-SEASON

  1. Submits Roster to the Athletic Director in a timely fashion.
  1. Issues equipment to players and maintains records of issued items.
  1. Plans, organizes and implements the teaching of fundamentals, strategy, rules and techniques.
  1. Properly supervises student-athletes.
  1. Follows department policies for athletic transportation.
  1. Teaches and reinforces good health habits with athletes, including the establishment of sound training rules.
  1. Maintains proper supplies, first aid kit and emergency cards at all times.
  1. In cooperation with the school nurse, implements procedures for handling injuries and completing injury report forms for student health records and insurance purposes.
  1. Promptly takes proper care of equipment, supplies and facilities.
  1. Provides an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and assists visiting teams, coaches and officials.
  1. Teaches student-athletes to use only legitimate and ethical means in attempting to win a game.
  1. Reports varsity game scores and other pertinent information to news media immediately following the game in accordance with District, League and Section policies.

POST-SEASON (Items to be submitted to the Athletic Director)

  1. Submits a list of collected, inventoried and stored equipment at end of season and completes end of season reports in a timely manner.
  1. Makes recommendations concerning budget and equipment needs for the following season.
  1. Evaluate total program and submit any recommendations for program improvement to Athletic Director.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Seasonal; Salary to be established by the Board of Education.

School Psychologist – District Wide

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide psychological services to schools, including psychoeducational evaluation, counseling, and consulting to assist in meeting the social, emotional, and educational needs of students in regular and special education programs being serviced by the Albion Central School District.

  • Administer and interpret psychological assessments of students;
  • Prepare recommendations regarding the evaluation and services for students;
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, specialists, agency and district personnel, and parents;
  • Counsel students; coordinate behavior management programs;
  • Provide psycho-educational assessments of students for districts and programs and participate in resulting Individual Educational Program (IEP) meetings;
  • Interpret psycho-educational assessment results;
  • Develop student goals and objectives;
  • Facilitate IEP meetings, as required;
  • Provide written reports analyzing, interpreting, and summarizing test results, observations and information from school personnel, students and parents;
  • Act as liaison between public and private agencies and county programs;
  • Develop, coordinate and provide training to staff, parents, agency and district personnel;

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED

CERTIFIED AND NON-CERTIFIED FOR PRE-K - GRADE 12

The Superintendent employs appropriately qualified substitute teachers. A substitute teacher is employed in the place of a regularly appointed teacher who is absent, but is expected to return.

The Board will annually establish the rate for per diem substitute teachers.

         New York State recognizes the following three categories of substitute teachers:

         a) Substitutes with valid NYS teaching certificates or certificates of qualification. A substitute teacher in this category may be employed in any capacity, for any number of days, in any number of school districts. However, if employed for more than 40 days by a school district in any given school year, the substitute teacher must be employed in the area for which they are certified.

         b) Substitutes without a valid NYS certificate, but who are completing collegiate study toward NYS certification at the rate of not less than six semester hours per year. A substitute teacher in this category may be employed in any capacity, for any number of days, in any number of school districts. However, if employed for more than 40 days by a school district in any given school year, the substitute teacher must be employed in the area for which they are seeking certification.

         c) Substitutes without a NYS valid certificate and who are not working towards NYS certification. A substitute teacher in this category may be employed in any capacity, but is limited to 40 days in one school district in any school year.

 

1 full day = more than four hours

1/2 day = up to and including four hours

Certified Instructors - $125 per day

Non-Certified Instructors - $105 per day

If you apply to be a substitute teacher, fingerprinting will be necessary at a cost of $102 and will be paid for by the substitute teacher applicant. (Please note the cost is the State Education Department processing fee.)
