Position Overview:

Albion Central School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech Pathologist to support student communication and language development across the district. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in speech-language pathology, excellent collaborative and organizational skills, and the ability to design and deliver effective therapy plans that meet diverse student needs. This position involves conducting evaluations, providing direct and indirect services, collaborating with teachers and families, and supporting students in developing the communication skills necessary for academic and social success.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the modern principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology;
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, maturity and dependability;
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population of students and families;
  • Ability to create a safe and culturally inviting environment.
  • Valid NYS License as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Preferred:  Three years of related experience

 

Purpose:

This is a professional position responsible to assess, diagnose, treat and help prevent speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, fluency and other related disorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) must be able to work across all settings, Pre-Kindergarten to High School serving students with a range of disabilities including those involving language, articulation (speech sound disorders), fluency, voice/resonance, and swallowing.
  • SLPs are utilized throughout the District to provide intervention services to support students and reduce academic barriers. SLPs should have a knowledge of a wide range of evaluation tools to assess students’ abilities as they relate to communication.
  • SLPs need to possess the ability to gather and interpret data to inform instructional practices.
  • SLPs must be willing to complete activities such as Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, Medicaid billing, report writing, and treatment plan/therapy log development.
  • SLP’s must be willing to engage with students and families from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Perform other duties as required by Building Principal and /or District Administrator

Requirements:

  • NYS License as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Fingerprint clearance through NYSED TEACH; drug testing; current TB test; current physical (less than one year old) – all completed upon being hired for employment

Terms of Employment:   Ten-month year; salary to be established by the Board   of Education; follows the ATA contract (Step 1: $49,037 - $55,000)

Evaluation: Completed by Administration and follows ATA contract
