QUALIFICATIONS:
1. R.N. License
2. Certified Athletic Trainer background desired
3. Certified in CPR/AED
4. Such alternatives and/or additions as the Board of Education may find acceptable.
5. Civil Service Rating - School Nurse
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Observes students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
2. Maintains up-to-date, cumulative health records on all students including Immunization information.
3. Assists in toileting needs for students with identified health issues.
4. Administers medications to students as per professional and district guidelines.
5. Reports to parents, school personnel, School Physician, Superintendent and other agencies on student health matters as directed.
6. Visits student homes when necessary.
7. Assumes authority for the care of a student or a staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness and calls EMS as needed; informs building administrator.
8. Administers First Aide in accordance with established First Aide procedures.
9. Makes recommendations to the School Physician and to the principal as needed, on health/safety related issues.
10. Implements policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious, contagious diseases and immunization requirements.
11. Assists school coaching staff members with athletic physicals and maintains all records of those exams.
12. Participates in in-service training programs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month year
Salary Range $43,000 - $50,000 based on experience
Follows Educational Support Staff contract
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Principal.
